Winery

Minimal Intervention in the winery is everything to us at Linden Estate.

Our wines are not made in the winery, rather are grown in our beautiful hillside vineyards. It is our task to help guide and nurture the individual site expression within the winery to fully express the subtle nuances inside every vineyard parcel.

At Linden Estate every parcel is picked seperately over multiple passes.  Bunches are then either kept intact or destemmed depending on the individual sites. 

Fermentation and aging of every parcel is seperate to maximise individuality and expression from our range of hill side plots.  A hands-off, minimal approach is taken when handling the wines and the use of additives is avoided where possible.

Length of barrel aging of the wines is decided upon per wine and when each parcel or blend has truly developed it's own harmony.

Vineyard

Our estate consists of 11Ha of vineyard situated on dramatic soils and slopes. As we consider ourselves custodians of the land a holistic approach is taken to grow wine on the estate. Cover crops are utilised to amend soils, increase carbon & nutrient cycling, re-deposit organic matter and create a spectacle when wildflowers bloom.

Rich, clay derived soils lend themselves to organic farming systems. Our regenerative approach to viticulture stems from a focus on soil health and quality. This has led to the elimination of herbicides, integrated grazing by sheep and dry farming

Linden Estate Winery enjoys the warm climate of Hawke's Bay, New Zealand's most versatile winegrowing region. Situated 15 minutes north of Napier, in the Eskdale sub region, Linden Estate Winery is the first winery as you arrive into Hawke's Bay from Taupo, and the ideal place to begin any wine tasting experience.

Our cellar door is a beautiful example of great architecture, wonderful timber and magical people providing the best experience for all.
