Welcome to PASK Winery e-cellar door
In 1981, Pask planted the first vines in an ancient Ngaruroro riverbed, founding Hawke's Bay's renowned Gimblett Gravels wine district. Four decades later, the Pask winemaking team remain as passionate as ever about creating wines to be shared and enjoyed.
Every bottle of Pask wine embodies the decades of experience, ethos of sustainability and care taken during every step of the winemaking process, elegantly expressing our unique terroir.
Pask produces four ranges of wines, each carefully crafted to offer distinctive character and style. With the exception of the Instinct line, all Pask wines are estate grown and bottled.
While flying above the ancient Ngaruroro riverbed in his topdressing plane founder, Chris Pask, saw an opportunity to grow exceptional grapes. The valley's sun-kissed, light, stony soils, sheltered from the Pacific-breeze were perfect for wine-growing. It was here that Pask’s first vines were planted over four decades ago. Our maiden vintage, a prized 1985 Cabernet Sauvignon, marked the start of the world-renowned Gimblett Gravels wine-growing district and established the Pask brand as the region’s founding growers.
Now under the care of the Benton Family, our passion for making authentic wines to be shared and enjoyed has only grown stronger. Our award-winning winemaking team employs sustainable methods to ensure the quality and consistency of our wines. We provide hands-on care throughout the entire winemaking process, from grape-picking in our 60 hectares of vineyards to bottling onsite at our Hawke's Bay winery.
Our 60 hectares of vineyards are located on Gimblett Road, where we planted the first vines of what is now the world-famous Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing District. Gimblett Gravels is a unique area of land, comprising alluvial deposits exposed when the Ngaruroro River flooded and established a new path 100 years ago. The soil is low in nutrients and laden with stones, gravel and silt. It is this quality, coupled with the area's warmth, that makes it a perfect spot for viticultural and an integral component of our winegrowing story.
At Pask, we are dedicated to producing enduring, high-value wines. Our winery is staffed by a small team of devoted individuals who are passionate about creating something special in every bottle.

Fine varietal typicity, striking a lovely balance between concentration and freshness. Smoky nose with ripe melon fruit. Broad creamy texture with gunpowder and green apple flavours. 2021 Declaration Syrah
"A noticeable concentration of colour at the core followed by perfume and varietal fruit signatures of violet and plum, pure black currant, dark raspberry and darker skinned orchard fruits. There’s a layer of spice from clove to licorice to a whisper of pepper. The oak signature of wood smoke and toasty spices seems well placed given the concentration both on the nose and palate. Well made with plenty of length and persistence."
