Eaton Chardonnay Marlborough Raupo Vineyard 2021

The nose gives layers of preserved lemons, flint and pastry. The palate is medium-bodied with precise acidity and creamy texture, showing notes of ruby grapefruit, poached apples and orange blossoms. Tightly wound but generous. Drink or hold.

A complex bouquet both familiar and new with aromas of toasty barrel, freshly roasted nut, peach and baked apple, citrus and baking spices. There’s a whisp of ginger spice and fresh hay from the natural ferment adding both intrigue and complexity. On the palate a satin touch is quickly surpassed by textures from lees and barrel spices, then grapefruit and apple, some white peach and crumbled stony soil flavours. textures from acidity and wood weave through the flavours leading to a complex and lengthy finish. Well made with best drinking from 2023 through 2029.
