Essential is a stunning fresh, citrus driven sparkling with honeysuckle and elderflower on the nose with a palate of clean crisp acidity and nuances of biscuity cheesecake base.

It is our oyster and “champagne” style methode.

It has just been listed in Herald Newspaper as one of the top 50 bottles to pop this season. It is predominantly our 2020 vintage.

The vivacious, non-vintage wine (*****) released in mid-2024 is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, hand-harvested at Kaikoura during the 2020 vintage and disgorged after nearly three years on its yeast lees. Bright, light lemon/green, it is highly refined, with penetrating, vigorous, citrusy fruit flavours, yeasty notes adding complexity, and a finely balanced, lasting finish. This non-vintage Essential is made of 87% Chardonnay and 13% Pinot Noir, spent 35 months on lees. The wine is elegant with a sense of purity, focused acid tension drives a lasting finish filled with pastry and creamy details. 94pts - 5 stars - Candice Chow

This Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blend rested on lees for 35 months boasts a bouquet of charm and finesse. A classic blend with flavours of white peach and lemon with a core of lees autolysis and brioche. Delicious and fresh with a persistent soft mousse, refreshing acid line with a lick of salinity.
