Welcome to Spurlock Vineyards e-Cellar Door!

Spurlock Vineyards is a family owned and operated vineyard and wine production business, focused exclusively on Pinot Noir. We live and work on our 10 hectare property in the Blind River region of the Awatere Valley in southern Marlborough. The vineyard site is elevated and gently sloping, reducing the risk of frost damage. The dense clay soils and constant wind help to reduce canopy vigor and keep yields low – and quality high.

We planted the vineyard conventionally in 2015, and began our conversion to become fully organic in 2020. From the beginning, we wanted to produce single vineyard Pinot Noir that is organic, sustainable, and free from harmful herbicides and pesticides.

The fruit is handpicked, allowed to ferment in stainless steel vessels with naturally occurring yeasts, and then carefully racked into French oak barrels where malolactic fermentation takes place. After 12 months in barrel, the wine is bottled in lighter weight bottles to help lessen our impact on the environment.
