Welcome to Rimu Grove's international e-Cellar Door

Rimu Grove Winery is committed to producing only the finest quality wines which reflect the terroir of the Nelson Moutere winegrowing region.
Owner and winemaker Patrick Stowe’s background is heavily influenced by science and tradition, having spent years in medical research as well as growing up in the Napa Valley with ancestral vineyards dating back five generations.
The Rimu Grove philosophy starts with an uncompromising attitude that sees meticulous management of both the vineyard and wines. Now in its 22nd year, that philosophy has never wavered. The vineyard is all painstakingly managed by hand and this attention to detail produces grapes with a fine balance of varietal flavours, textures and aromas. The fruit and wines are handled with the utmost care to retain and accentuate those delicate characteristics.
Rimu Grove seeks to create wines of elegance, length and finesse.

Reviews

2016 Rimu Grove Pinot Noir Review

Sam Kim's Wine Orbit, Nov 2018
5-stars, 96 points

“Compelling and magnificently styled, the wine shows sweet berry aromas together with vanilla, cedar, game and black olive nuances, followed by a concentrated palate that is refined and silky with splendid fruit purity backed by fabulous savoury notes. It is mouthfilling and gratifying, while remaining poised and elegantly structured. At its best: now to 2025.”

2019 Rimu Grove Pinot Gris Review

Sam Kim’s Wine Orbit, August 2020
5-stars, 94 points

“It has a gorgeous ripe bouquet of baked pear, honeydew melon and fig with a touch of spicy complexity. The palate is equally satisfying with excellent weight and succulent fruit intensity combined with fleshy texture and refreshing acidity, making it delicious and hugely appealing. At its best: now to 2024.”

2019 Rimu Grove Chardonnay Review

New Zealand Wines 2021: Michael Cooper’s Buyer’s Guide, 4 1/2 stars

“This is typically full of personality. Estate-grown near the coast in the Moutere hills and fermented and lees-matured for 11 months in French oak casks, the bright, light yellow/green 2019 vintage has a fragrant, slightly oaky bouquet, leading into a full-bodied, youthful wine with fresh acidity and strong, ripe, peachy, nutty flavours, showing very good complexity. Best drinking 2022+.”
