Seifried Nelson Zweigelt 2024 750ml New Vintage
From humble beginnings in 1973, our family has continued to craft exceptional wines from our estate in Nelson. The Seifried label represents our premium estate wines, made from fruit grown on well-established vines, typically over eight years old. Zweigelt, a red grape variety originating from Hermann’s homeland of Austria, is a favorite at our family gatherings. It’s a very berry-forward wine, with plum and blackberry flavors, complemented by baking spices. The 2024 vintage was exceptional in Nelson, and Hermann Seifried has described it as perhaps the best vintage of his lifetime, after 49 seasons in the Top of the South!
"Our 2024 Seifried Nelson Zweigelt comes from the exceptional vintage 2024 which Hermann Seifried has commented is perhaps the best vintage of his lifetime, although our Zweigelt grapes did suffer some spring frost damage, the growing season was exceptional with loads of sunshine and low disease pressure. The wine shows plum and blackberry flavours with cedar and thyme notes in the background. Silky tannins deliver a succulent, supple wine on the palate. Enjoy with a gently spiced goulash or BBQ New York steak."
