Arthur's Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 750ml Limited Release
This single-block, single clone wine is named for the couple who established this Bannockburn vineyard, Sue and Bill Arthur. The northwest-facing aspect and the silty loam soils combine with the own-rooted old vines to carry a unique sense of place into this limited production wine.
Hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard, 100% 10/5 clone from 26 year old vines. De-stemmed to tank, fermented wild using a combination of pump-overs and punch-downs to manage the cap. On skins for 17 days, pressed, settled and racked to barrels - for 10 months, 23% new.
"The 2022 Arthur's is floral with brambly fruit and a brooding depth to the palate. Whilst having a lightness to the palate, it is complex and contemplative. Incredibly elegant this wine will reward those who cellar it. - Rosie Menzies, winemaker -
94 points - Excellent
A complex and enticing bouquet with a palate to match. Aromas and flavours of raspberry and plums, layers of mineral a nd a touch of flint then earth and wood spices, some wood smoke and floral highlights. An abundance of fine tannins and supporting acid line touch the palate first, then flavours of dried raspberry and red fruits filling out the mid palate and contrasting the textured frame. Well made with plenty of length and delicacy. Best drinking from 2025 through 2032+.
