Maori Point
Reserve Pinot Noir 2017 750ml
GROWING SEASON
The 2017 growing season in Central Otago began with a cool spring marked by frosts. Despite some warm days, cool temperatures extended into late January, when summer’s warmth finally arrived, and stayed until harvest. Fruit set and crop levels were lower than average, but with good quality. The autumn weather was settled and warm, thus allowing for even ripening. Harvest occurred April 4th and 5th.
TASTING NOTES
The late season warmth of 2017 is articulated in greater concentration and breadth, when compared to the slightly cooler 2016 vintage. The nose reveals dark cherry, forest berries, anise, vanilla and savory hints. The palate adds in subtle florals and wood spice. Lifted, layered, and ethereal, the silky tannins and long finish indicate that this wine will age well for 12 to 14 years.
